![]() It looks great, the price is stupidly low and while it may feel derivative at times, the quality on display with this capture ‘em all experience is on par with Nintendo’s top-tier offerings. The world is on the brink of extinction as mighty Tyrant Nexomon fight for dominion over humans and monsters. If you’ve become disillusioned with modern-day Pokemon, then Nexomon is super effective at appealing to your nostalgia. People have eventually learned to live alongside the titular Nexomon and even tame them, but their main role as tamers is to defend humankind from future attacks. Generally favorable reviews based on 12 Ratings Your Score 0 Summary: Nexomon: Extinction is a return to classic monster catching games, complete with a brand new story, eccentric characters and over 300 unique Nexomon to trap and tame. This is a game set in a post apocalyptic land where monsters have ravaged human cities to the point there’s only a handful of them left. The most noticeable difference is its setting. Perhaps just barely enough to be considered its own thing. Alright, this is basically the closest to a Pokémon ripoff I have ever seen, but I was surprised to find out Nexomon: Extinction has a handful of neat ideas of its own. To be honest, I thought the game was going to be a more blatant clone than what it ended up being. I was equally shocked that Nintendo didn’t try to halt its release, as they have persecuted other games in the past for much less. I was shocked I had never heard of it before learning about its sequel being planned for PC and consoles. Eventually I discovered it started out in the mobile gaming realm, a place not exactly famous for respecting intellectual properties or coming up with extremely unique gaming ideas. When Nexomon: Extinction landed on consoles in 2020, I didn’t expect it to be such a breath of fresh air. I had to do a bit of researching in order to find out the origins of the Nexomon franchise. To be fair I think Nexomon is technically the closest Pokémon style game that you can find on the app store if youre looking for that classic monster catching experience. Nexomon: Extinction on Xbox One is a great alternative to the Pokémon series, because even though it doesn’t have the legacy, there’s a hell of a lot of elements it gets right especially the gorgeous visuals. Even the special situations have their own track. The soundtrack is great, every area has its own track, and all the tracks are good. You will see some funny scenes and Nexomon designs in line with these graphics. You thought that choosing between three starters was already a tough job? Well, Nexomon: Extinction makes you choose between NINE starters. Nexomon: Extinction is the second Nexomon game in what is sure to at least be a trilogy, and yes, its 100 trying to be Pokémon. The game presents cartoonish characters and monsters with a very nice variety in quality and quantity. ![]()
